Custom Equipment Guards at Volume: From Handmade Acrylic to Injection Molding, Lead Time Cut to 1 Day per Batch

The customer needed custom equipment guards produced in volume, each consisting of a base and a lid joined by an interference fit. The original handmade acrylic approach suffered from inconsistent dimensions, lids and bases that were not interchangeable and had to be matched one by one, rough detailing, bonded snap features that came loose, and chronically late deliveries. After assessment, Cremage switched the part to injection molding: lead time for each 1,000-piece batch dropped from 15 days to 1 day, dimensions became fully consistent and interchangeable without matching, and the snap-fit is molded in one piece so it no longer detaches; material can also be switched flexibly between acrylic and PC depending on mechanical load, greatly reducing damage losses.
